Stay Healthy This Holiday Season

You are going to eat and drink more this season. It’s inevitable and fun, so get prepared NOW to ensure you stay healthy.

Dr. Mia Finkelston, who treats patients using LiveHealth Online, shares 6 ways to stay healthy and fit during the upcoming holiday season.

1. Keep Up With your exercise
Early November is a terrific time to start increasing your exercise routine, or to start a new one. That way you can stay healthy during the upcoming holiday meals. Cardio, floor exercises, spinning, there are many options, the key is to find a routine that you enjoy and can do on a daily basis. Dancing around your house counts too, so get creative.

2. Maintain a healthy diet, when possible
Realizing it is cold and flu season, you need a nutrient dense diet to maintain a healthy body, eat a variety of foods and don’t get suckered into FAD diets that have limited merit.

3. Stay clean
Hygiene is part of that plan as well. Wash your hands with soap and water when possible, or have hand sanitizer at the ready in a pinch.

4. Get enough sleep
Sleep hygiene is another way to stay well. Sleeping 7-9 hours a night for most adults is a way to keep your weight under control and affords a clear head for the daily grind.

5.  Keep a healthy mind
The holidays can be stressful. Be aware of your inclination for Seasonal Affective symptoms and get on top of it now by talking to a doctor or therapist using LiveHealth Online to talk about possible treatment ideas.

6. Take care of yourself
Don’t feel guilty about saying “no” to some invitations. You may not be able to get to everything without sabotaging your wellness plans and that could bring on the dreaded cold.
If you do get sick, have plenty of supportive care at the ready so you don’t need to go to the store when you are sick. Download the LiveHealth Online app app to your smartphone for access to a doctor when you need one.
