Summer is approaching, and we know moms are always on the go. Whether you’re headed to the park or the beach, there’s a few items that are good to have on hand for both you and the kids. Dr. Mia Finkelston, who treats patients using LiveHealth Online, is also a busy mom on the go. She gives us tips on items you should always keep in your purse.
-
- Ibuprofen: It’s good for sunburn, headaches from squinting, too many outdoor activities and life’s social adventures. Always be sure to take with food.
- Domeboro: An older remedy to help dry out and soothe weeping rashes (poison ivy) and inflamed skin (bug bites). Mix these packets of astringent with water and you will have a terrific compress.
- Hydrocortisone cream: It’s a quick fix for when the kids (or even you) have itchy skin from bug bites or poison ivy. It can also can be used for pesky pimples and ingrown hairs from shaving.
- Sunglasses: If you relax your eyes and forehead, Dr. Mia Finkelston says, you will potentially see fewer wrinkles and develop fewer headaches. Protect the iris (the colored part of your eye) from changes that can affect the pigment and potentially lead to melanoma of the eye, which is something that Dr. Finkelston has seen while practicing medicine.
- Sunscreen: By now we all put this on everyday whether we live in the city or at the beach, but a reminder is still useful.
And for those times you’re on the go and someone gets sick and needs to see a doctor, be prepared by already having LiveHealth Online downloaded on your phone. You can download it and register here.
